Dutch film makers seem to love poking a stick in the eye of the faithful. Mere weeks have passed since the tense but uneventful release of Geert Wilders anti-Koran film Fitna and now Paul Verhoeven (Robocop, Basic Instinct, Black Book) has announced that he is to publish a biography of baby Jeebus in which he claims Jesus’ father was probably a Roman soldier who raped Mary during the Jewish uprising. According to Reuters he has a life long ambition to produce a film about Jesus based on scientific research. That should go over well with the Christian crowd usually hostile to science and reason (wink, Ben Stein, wink). Recall as well that in 2004 another Dutch film maker Theo Van Gogh was murdered by Muslims for his film Submission which was critical of violence against women in Islamic societies.
